Windows server 2012 IIS setting

Target: in the intranet, client can visit the local website with the domain name, such as http://www.group2.co.nz 

and the ftp, such as ftp://www.group2.co.nz

 

Environment

A. Domain Controller: Windows server 2012

B. IIS server: Windows server 2012

C. Client: Windows 8

 

IIS setting

1. Install the IIS feature with FTP in server management

2. Default from IE, can visit the IIS service with http://<hostname of IIS server>

3. Go to IIS management, change the bing setting of the IIS:

a. add ip address of the IIS server;

b. add the domain name;

4. Go to the domain control, change the dns setting:

Add host in forward as www with the IIS server ip address

5. Try from the IIS server with the ip address and the domain name which start with http://

6. Try from the client with the ip address and the domain name which start with http://

 

FTP setting

1. Default from IE, can visit the ftp service with ftp://<hostname of IIS server>

2. Change the bing setting of FTP

a. add ip address of the IIS server;

b. add the domain name;

3. Try from the IIS server with the ip address and the domain name which start with ftp://

4. Try from the client with the ip address and the domain name which start with ftp://
